WBC heavyweight champion Wilder held onto his belt in a pulsating split-decision draw with the Gypsy King back in December.
Fury, taking part in his first world title fight in over three years, defied the odds by outboxing Wilder for the majority of the bout.
And he stunned the boxing world by somehow climbing back to his feet in the 12th round after being decked by a brutal right-left combination from the American.
Fight fans immediately called for a rematch between the pair, but last week the WBC confirmed Fury has pulled out of negotiations for a second showdown and is instead opting for an interim fight
Yet Leonard, a five-weight world champion in his own glistening career, has called for the rematch to happen.
“There should be a rematch, there should be a rematch,” he told Behind The Gloves.
“The way that fight resulted, Fury surprised not just me but the world.
“I thought it would be two rounds, four rounds maybe. In the 12th when he got knocked down, I thought it was over. I thought it was, like, finished!
“We knew you only said this bec[ause] you knew you wasn’t fighting me next. #CloutChaser you requested a warm-up fight first. I don’t blame you tho, I probably would too if I saw my brains splashed all over the canvas.”
And Fury was quick to respond, tweeting: “Get your self a bit more well known in America first kid & then I’ll give you another chance!
“I already beat you & the world knows it & so do you – must be hard for you that a British fighters has taken over the USA – watch me whippppp #ONLYINAMERICA”
