Fans Left Disappointed With News That Wilder-Breazeale Would Be on PayPerView

Many fans are disappointed with Wilder May 18th fight against Breaazeale which is planned  to be on Payper view

In a post on twitter the famed Ring Magazine reporter, Mike Coppinger twitted

“SOURCES: Deontay Wilder’s planned May 18 heavyweight title defense against Dominic Breazeale is pegged for Showtime PPV. Top Rank offered Wilder $12.5 million, and PBC had to contend with the eight-figure payday, necessitating PPV”
However many fans were not happy to discover that the fight would be on PayPerView
One user replied
“What a joke. Not paying for that”
“Stop joking Mike it’s not Aprils fools yet”
“Why would anyone pay to see that?”
Another alluding to justification as to why the fight should be on PayPerView
“Undercard better be prime mike tyson vs prime ali and prime hagler vs prime ggg thats the only way this sales”
“Like $6.99 ppv?”
“Well good payday for Wilder but I am not buying this fight.”
“@premierboxing @BronzeBomber Horrendous PPV fight. Slap in the face to boxing fans.”
“It’s a one round fight if Wilder goes for it”
“Man I agree he’s a must watch and I’m a definite fan but daaaaaaaamn a Brazeale PPV is rough. That would have been a perfect fight for a huge Fox blockbuster.”
Truly this would be hard fight to sell on PayPerView with a new streaming trend emerging in boxing with new players DAZN and ESPN+ offering PayPerView worthy fights for the small price of a monthly subscription.
Some fans were disappointed with Wilder’s business moves wondering why Wilder turned down a $12.5million top rank deal or $15million deal from Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing deals whereby he would still face Dominic Breazeale but fans wouldn’t have to pay the hefty PayPerViews.
“Hearn offered more than that too. Wilder/Breazeale PPV??? No thanks, Good luck with that.”
