Dubois: Hopefully Me and AJ can get it on Some Day

DANIEL DUBOIS has responded to claims he knocked down Anthony Joshua while sparring and has also issued a come-and-fight-me plea.

Dubois was in action last week when he only needed two rounds to easily knock out Razvan Cojanu, who went the distance with former world champion Joseph Parker.

The British boxer is highly-touted to reach the top after a number of impressive performances already.

There have been rumours circulating for a while now that the 21-year-old gave current WBO, IBF, IBO and WBA heavyweight champions Joshua quite a battering.

Frank Warren said last April: “[Dubois] has a fantastic jab, real power, he’s relaxed, a natural boxer and puncher.

“Not only did he knock Joshua down [in sparring], he absolutely did for Joshua in the gym, as he has done with all the names he has sparred with.”

However, when asked about the time he knocked his compatriot down in sparring, Dubois was coy – while also hoping to fight AJ in the future.

He joked on the Hawksbee and Jacobs show on talkSPORT: “Yeah, that sounds swell, doesn’t it?

“No, it’s great. It was good sparring for me and it’s good people are still talking about it.

“One day we can hopefully get it on.”

Joshua will face Jarrell Miller in New York, fighting outside of the United Kingdom for the first time.

And Big Baby has mentioned Dubois as a sparring partner, keen to learn how the Greenwich-born boxer managed to get the better of Joshua.

It would involve Miller’s team flying the fighter over the United States, something Dubois is keen to do.

“It looks likely, it looks very likely it’ll happen,” he added.

“I really look forward to – if it does happen – getting out there in America and experiencing what they have to offer.”
