Deontay Wilder set for DAZN talks

Deontay Wilder will attend a meeting with DAZN chiefs next week regarding a potential broadcast deal, according to reports.

Despite being aligned with adviser Al Haymon (whose fighters generally appear on Showtime/Fox) the WBC heavyweight world champion is a network free agent and is now weighing up his options.

According to Ring Magazine journalist Mike Coppinger, Wilder’s promoter Lou DiBella has set up face-to-face talks with John Skipper – the Executive Chairman of fledgling streaming service DAZN.

It’s believed Wilder, DiBella and Haymon will attend the meeting alongside manager Shelly Finkel, where they are expected to be presented with a new multi-fight deal to join up with the platform.

Until recently, the American was being lined up for a rematch with Tyson Fury, but this fell apart when the ‘Gypsy King’ linked with rival network ESPN.

Now, Anthony Joshua has re-entered the fray because he is signed to DAZN on a fight-by-fight basis in America.

The unified heavyweight champion is set to return against Jarrell Miller on June 1 and his promoter Eddie Hearn suggested a deal to recruit Wilder earlier this month.
