WBN reported last month of a DAZN double-header being in place for the return of former middleweight king Gennady Golovkin.
Golovkin is due to share a bill with Demetrius Andrade on June 8, live on the streaming service.
Reports are now filtering through that scheduled foe Brandon Adams has had a change of heart on facing the formidable Kazakh puncher.
Adams is likely to sign for a clash with interim WBC ruler Jermall Charlo a week later on June 15.
‘GGG’ will be making his debut for the streaming service following the signing of a multi-million dollar contract.
The veteran is set to warm up for a trilogy fight with Canelo Alvarez in September against an opponent yet to be finalized.
It’s back to the drawing board for Team Golovkin after the fight had looked done and dusted at one point.
Golovkin needs a victory following a draw, win and loss in his last three outings. That mixed bag came on the back of one of the most formidable runs in 160 pound history.
With many questioning how much Golovkin has left, the opportunity is massive for a divisional contender to land a shot at the big time.
DAZN will televise a huge night of boxing, the details of which will be made public shortly.
The demise of HBO saw Golovkin on the lookout for a new home. DAZN stepped in and are now planning an eye-catching double-header.
In the co-feature, Demetrius Andrade was all set to defend his WBO middleweight strap against Maciej Sulecki.
It’s not known whether the Adams u-turn will affect the scheduled second main event.
Andrade has been in fine form of late after claiming the vacant title left behind by Billy Joe Saunders.
Sulecki, also 29, recently saw off Gabe Rosado in a tough Philadelphia scrap. The US-based Pole gets the reward offered to both fighters prior to the contest by promoter Eddie Hearn.
An accompanying undercard is likely to see many young prospects given the chance to shine. A usual feature on DAZN events of late.
In terms of venue, New York would be the current frontrunner. The likes of San Antonio, Las Vegas and Los Angeles cannot be ruled out at this stage.
